I attended the third social media breakfast in Boston earlier this Fall. It was pretty cool connecting face-to-face with people I had only met online through my social networks, and hearing how other social media professionals are approaching these new platforms for communications and community building.
It was there that I met Bryan Person, who really understands the myriad ways social media is changing our work. I must have made some off-hand comment about how we could use one of these in New York. I didn’t mean that I wanted to organize it, per se, just that "it would be cool if SOMEONE did."
A few weeks later, I was exchanging emails with Paull Young from social media agency Converseon, who also thought it was a great idea, and "it would be cool if SOMEONE organized one in NYC."
That "someone" turned out to be us.
