The San Francisco East Bay is proud to host our INAUGURAL Social Media Breakfast at Restaurant Cesar in Oakland on Wednesday, February 25.  It will be a great casual gathering designed to deliver spirited discussions, good food, and some great networking.

Our featured speaker, JD Lasica, will lead an energetic discussion of social media trends and more . If you don’t know who JD is, you should and you will (see his bio below).

Bonus: Plus we are thrilled to have a surprise guest-but you have to go to the invite to find out who.

The San Francisco EAST BAY Social Media Breakfast is being organized by Shel Holtz and Kenny Lauer. It brings together all kinds of folks: social media experts, newcomers and enthusiasts, for a morning of eating, stimulating dialog, sharing, and learning. Did I mention eating?

Ok who is welcome? See if you fit into one of these: Marketers, PR pros, entrepreneurs, bloggers, videobloggers, podcasters, students, new-media enthusiasts, Twitterers, community managers, recruiters, and online social networkers.

Here’s the cool thing. For the inaugural event, we are making it Free to you. Yes, be a charter SMB East Bay attendee! We’re kicking off these get-togethers with a free breakfast thanks to the generosity of LiveWorld’s sponsorship.

The fun will last for 2 hours, focusing on people meeting each other, and our guest speaker telling a story to spark conversation and discussion.

Agenda

* 8:00-8:30 am Breakfast, Drink, “Hey How are ya” ?
* 8:30-9:15 am Presentation and discussion with JD Lasica

Speaker bio: JD Lasica, CEO and founder of Socialmedia.biz

JD Lasica is a social media strategist, entrepreneur, citizen journalist, and author. He is founder of Socialmedia.biz, a news site and enterprise that offers consulting, training and video services to Fortune 500 companies and smaller organizations. He is a founding principal of AdHocnium, a network of leading social media consultants. In a few days JD will also launch Socialbrite.org to support the efforts of nonprofits and social change organizations. And he is organizing a Traveling Geeks trip to London in July with Scoble, Craig Newmark, and others.

JD was co-founder and editorial director of Ourmedia.org, the first video hosting and sharing site. His 2005 book “Darknet: Hollywood’s War Against the Digital Generation” explored the emerging medialandscape.

In a previous life, JD was an editor at the Sacramento Bee and editorial manager of several Silicon Valley startups. CNET named him one of the 100 top media bloggers in the world. You can find him on Twitter at @jdlasica.

What’s JD going to talk about?

JD will touch on recent trends in social media, the meteor hurtling toward the news industry, and the need for a collaborative resource center around social media. But we want to make this a conversation rather than a speech, so bring your questions and comments.
