The upcoming NYC Social Media breakfast is on June 3 at 8:30 am and has some pretty impressive speakers in the line up. Each of them followed their passion and the results so far have been profound. While the social web is in its infancy, and will only continue to spread and harness the power of community, the people laying the groundwork are doing a pretty smashing job. I was a Twestival organizer in NYC and in Boston, and in one day this past winter, utilizing social media, we collectively raised $250, 000 USD. Margaret Mead’s famous words, “A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has” rang through my mind as we worked to raise awareness for Charity: Water, foster community on Twitter, and fundraise in the hopes of providing clean water to people who are in need. I’m excited to hear the stories the speakers at the next breakfast have to share, and we hope you are to.
