Louisville’s First Social Media Breakfast Set For Sept. 25

PNC Plaza and Kentucky TowersAfter much harassment from Bryan Person, Louisville is getting on board with the Social Media Breakfast, and we’re doing it in a compelling way that will hopefully inspire others to do the same.

The Social Media Club Louisville will host a Social Media Breakfast Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, from 7:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. at the Jefferson Club in downtown Louisville. But we are inviting people who need to learn the basics of social media and will present a Social Media 101 session.

Through our sponsor, local advertising agency Creative Alliance, we are extending a select number of free admission invitations to several professional groups around town, including the local Advertising Federation and chapers of the Public Relations Society of America, International Association of Business Communicators, American Marketing Association and Society of Professional Journalists. Beyond those free passes, the general public is invited to attend (with an RSVP) for the cost of breakfast, which is $13.

While we know this is a bit out of character for the Social Media Breakfasts that have preceded us, the Social Media Club membership here has insisted our mission be about educating the mainstream and spreading the footprint of social media. The Social Media Breakfast concept fits so nicely into that position, we’re convinced the event will be a success.

So, if you’re in or are planning to be in Louisville on Sept. 25, join us. I’ve told the more experienced social media folks in town it will be a good place to network and find companies looking for help in that realm. At worst, folks can find someone to mentor through the social web’s waters.

If you’d like to come, please RSVP no later than Tuesday, Sept. 23 by emailing the Social Media Club Louisville at smclouisville - at - gmail.com. A full breakfast buffet will be served. The cost of the event is $13 per person. Only cash and check will be accepted. Cancellations after Tuesday, Sept. 23 will be invoiced.

The Jefferson Club is located on the 29th Floor of the PNC Bank Building at 500 West Jefferson Street. The breakfast will be held in the President Founders Room of the Club. Professional attire is recommended.

For more information contact Jason Falls at 502.815.3257 or email the Club at smclouisville - at - gmail.com.

And we’ll happily report back on Louisville’s inaugural breakfast.
