On the 29th of March, 2008, the first Social Media Breakfast | Singapore, took place in a tiny cafe within a university with about 40 attendees.
On the 28th of March, 2009, just shy of one year later, our sixth Social Media Breakfast took place at one of Singapore’s most popular shopping malls, right in the heart of town. You can read more about our sixth session and our direction for 2009 on our blog.
We’ve definitely come a long way since March 2008, but there is so much yet for us to learn from and improve, and we hope everyone will be on board with us for 2009 and beyond.

Hello from Singapore! We’re incredibly excited to have SMB3 in Singapore, this time held at the swanky Asian Civilisations Museum as a tie up with the National Heritage Board.
For the first time we’re introducing an agenda centered loosely around blogger outreach programmes and what they mean for all parties involved.
If you’re in Singapore, we’d love to invite you to come be part of this exciting event!
Last Saturday, 24th of May 2008 was Social Media Breakfast: Singapore 2! The attendee list jumped to about 60 people, of which about 40% were there for the very first time.
As we’re still getting used to the idea of a social media event here in Singapore, there were no presentations or speakers, but ideas of a small round-table discussion are being thrown about for the third installation of SMB.
The crowd was a great mix of students, PR executives, casual bloggers, entrepreneurs and the curious.
For Immediate Release’s Singaporean correspondent, Michael Netzley, also covered the event in FIR #348
A full rundown of blog posts and pictures can be found here, and a video from the breakfast is below.
The second SMB:Singapore is happening this Saturday and it looks like we’re going to have almost double the participants from the last time! Everyone’s pretty psyched about it, and co-organisers Derrick, Sheylara and myself are definitely going to keep SMB:Singapore around to stay.
In fact, we got Shermeen to create for us a logo that we could use for future Social Media Breakfast events, and here it is with a short write-up:
The logo’s a coffee cup, with the handle and saucer forming the acronym “SMB”. It can also look like a person having a bright idea..with the face/head having 3/4 profile. I’ve opted for sketchy lines, so the logo looks professional enough, yet informal enough to be fun.
On top of that, a brand new episode of The Geek Goddess TV Show will be filmed exclusively on location! Lots of media to be generated, check back next week for links to all of them.
What do you think of our new logo? Will you be in Singapore? Why not drop by and say hi! We’ll be glad to meet you!
